Crematorium
The Gleeton & Fortin's Crematorium in Gaspé
It is indeed possible for immediate family members, that wish it, to be present to the ritual of cremation. All this happens in a context where dignity and the integral respect are of primary importance. This is a unique possibility in the region.
We were the first to implement a crematory in Gaspe peninsula, the sole in MRC of Côte-de-Gaspé and surroundings. This allows us to offer cremation without any further delay due to transportation or non-disponibility of installations in another location. Economically speaking, this is a real advantage; since transportation costs are null, this allows savings compared to the others funerals homes of the region.
The operations of Crematorium are directed by a set of rules :
- Before proceeding to cremation, the owner must have in hand all documentation prescribed by law.
- Cremation shall not be done within twelve (12) hours following finding of death.
- A body given to Crematorium to be cremated shall be placed in an appropriate container; this container shall not, in no way, be open without written permission of the owner and, in this case, only in presence of buyer and/or his authorized representant.
- In order to proceed to cremation, it's necessary to remove all radioactive material, explosive or plastic or any other material or substance that, on opinion of operator, should be removed according to law, or that could damage the crematory oven, or alter the proceeding of cremation.
