Donald Vibert

December 29, 1967 - March 22, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Fred Vibert on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the age of 57. He passed peacefully with family by his side after a brief but intense illness.

He is predeceased by his parents Keith Vibert and Mary Jensen. He is survived by his brother Steve (Alice), sister Tanya (Bruno), nephew Brayden and niece Emily. He is also survived by his many cherished aunts and uncles: Wilma, Kathleen, Weston (Joyce), Stan (Lise), Fredrick, Robert, Dorothy (Garold), Barbara (Frank), Betty (Brian), Katheryn (Paul), Karen (Kent) as well as many cousins, and countless friends.

Don will be remembered for his love of animals, sports, gaming, movies, music, cooking, and his friendly rivalry in his cherished and long-running hockey league.

Don was the type of guy that if you met him even briefly, you were instantly friends with him, be it in person or online, and anywhere in the world. He was genuine, curious and kind, and he loved recommending books, movies and food to family and friends based on what he knew about them and their interests. Don was very social and will be fondly remembered for his caring, supportiveness, and quick-witted humour.

A special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at the Hôpital Hôtel-Dieu de Gaspé, especially those on the 7th floor whom he said provided exceptional care.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Ottawa, ON, on September 13th, from 2-4pm at the Hometown Grill, and another in Gaspé, QC on Tuesday Oct. 7, from 4-6pm at the Légion Gaspé #59.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or any animal care centre of your choice.

Don, your love and consideration of family and friends despite your recent health issues was commendable. Your sense of humour was untouched during your courageous battle, as you tried to ease the pain of those around you, and it will not be forgotten.

Don was a close co-worker of mine at CWC for 5 years. It was a joy to come in and talk hockey and movies and web design with such a happy guy. We had so much fun together. To his family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I've thought about Don often over the years. He left a great impression on me. Everyone he met was better for having known him. God bless.
