Dennis Palmer

Dennis Palmer

March 10, 1930 - January 16, 2026

The family of Dennis Palmer sadly announce his passing on Friday January 16, ten days after he had a serious fall at home. He was fortunate to live a long and healthy life for 95 years.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Marguerite Palmer (Patterson), his two sons, Tony (Agnes), Steven, his two grandsons, Brian (Kate), Jonathan (Sonia). He also leaves to mourn his three surviving sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, their families and his many cherished friends.

Predeceased by his parents Charles and Audrey Palmer and four siblings.

Dennis’ life was centered around his family, friends and community. He had a fulfilling and varied career, culminating in twenty years at Gaspe Copper Mines. Dennis was a man that possessed a strong moral compass. He applied his high energy level to the community and his many projects on the go at his property in Wakeham.

Dennis was truly a man of Wakeham, it was deeply ingrained in his being. It was where he and Marg were born, raised their sons, and enjoyed an active retirement for 33 years. They were always ready to welcome family and visitors from far and wide for friendly conversation, to share stories, and even “occasionally” to debate differing opinions on local and global political and social developments.

Dennis will be deeply missed.

Rest easy Dad, we love you!

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Parish of Gaspe.

On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the staff at Gaspe Hospital for taking great care of our father during his last days.

Funeral services and interment will be held in Wakeham in summer 2026.

Professional services were entrusted to the Valère Fortin Funeral Home, a subsidiary of the HG Division network certified Distinction by the Corporation of thanatologists of Quebec and by the Bureau de Normalisation du Québec.

The management and staff of HG Division offer their most sincere condolences to the family and thank them for their trust.

My deepest condolences to Mrs. Palmer, Steven, Tony and family for the loss of your beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was a good, kind man whom I had the privilege to work with at Mines Gaspé in the 80’s and it was always a pleasure to see him on occasion when visiting family. May he rest in peace and may his love and precious memories keep him alive in your hearts 💗🙏
