It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Peter Garvin Almond, at the age of 90, on February 24, 2026, at the CHSLD in New Carlisle.
Born on October 7, 1935, in Montreal, Peter lived a full and vibrant life marked by laughter, love, and deep devotion to his family.
He was the beloved husband of of Emily Almond (née Gray) for 66 years, who sadly predeceased him in 2023. Emily was the center of his world, and together they built a family grounded in warmth, loyality. and enduring affection.
Peter was a proud and loving father to Debbie Blakeman (Barry), Judy Tutkaluk (Peter), Sandra Denison (Rob), David Almond (Gina), and Tanya (Charlie), and eight grandchildren and five great - grandchildren. He cherished his family deeply, and though they were spread across Canada and the United States, he took great joy in the times they were able to get together.
Peter worked at Northern Telecome for more than 35 years, where he built a career in various skilled trades while also forming lifelong friendships. After retiring, he and Emily returned to his childhood roots, settling in the beloved historic Almond home in Shigawake - built by his grandmother in 1912.They were happiest there.
Peter was known for his sociability - his wonderful sense of humor, love of telling jokes and sharing old stories, and his ability to make those around him laugh. Peter had a sharp mind and a natural gift for math and numbers. He followed current events, always staying up to date on news. He loved books - especially mysteries and history. He enjoyed his Netflix shows, movies and documentaries. Above all this ,he loved his family .His playful spirit and warm heart will be sadly deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank and acknowledge the many cherished caregivers at the CHSLD, especially those whom Peter came to consider friends, for their dedication, care, and kindness over the last 4 years.
A small celebration of life will be held in the spring. Details will be shared at a later date.
