Godfrey Ascah

October 2, 1928 - March 14, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Felix Godfrey Malcolm Ascah on March 21, 2026, in Gaspé, Quebec, at the age of 97.

A celebration of life for Mr. Godfrey Ascah will be held at a later date this summer. Additional details will be provided in due course.

Felix was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen (née Robin). He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Deborah (Stephen) and Elizabeth (the late Stanley), as well as his cherished grandchildren, Aleesha, Blair (Mariane), and Emily (Anna). He is also lovingly remembered by his nephews and their families, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on October 2, 1928, Godfrey lived a long and meaningful life rooted in hard work, dedication, and quiet strength. Through his work delivering milk and selling vegetables, flowers, collecting garbage at Haldimand Beach and serving as church warden, Godfrey connected with many people in his community.

He was known for his love of gardening, woodcutting, and farming—passions that kept him active and connected to the land throughout his life. A devoted family man, Godfrey spent much of his life working two jobs to provide for those he loved.

Godfrey was a quiet man who appreciated the simple things in life. He had an extraordinary drive to remain productive every day. Even in his later years, he could be found in his garden or puttering around outdoors. He was still active this fall at 97; harvesting potatoes, building garden boxes in preparation for the next planting season, and helping to put in the winter’s wood.

Godfrey will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his humility and his love of family. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and quiet perseverance will live on in all who knew him.
